EV Range Map

E-mail Print PDF

I have been playing with google maps a lot lately and thought it would be interesting to see what the "as the crow flies" approximate range of the Mini-E was.  The Joomla module is at the right.  I included overlays for both round trip (50 miles conservative) and one way (100 miles).

I image a map like this populated with users and charge stations across the country that provide a fully connected path for gasoline free travel across the nation.  That was sort of the genesis for this particular site.  If you are also in the test program or have one of the other electric vehicles such as the RAV-4 EV or even the Tesla and would like to be included on this map, shoot me an email via the "Contact Us" link at the left.

Power Base is Ready

E-mail Print PDF
So the power charger for my new Mini-E was just installed.  It does not have the final charging cable since those are still being approved but is otherwise ready to go.  I should have the city inspection any day now and we are now told that we must take delivery of the cars by June 26th.  Likely in the next week or two for people like me that have everything ready.  I will upload some pictures later.

The adventure begins

E-mail Print PDF
Welcome to the website documenting my adventures during my year with a prototype electric vehicle.

For many years, I have been lamenting the fact that we are only one small technology breakthrough away from completely changing the game as far as transportation goes.  Electric vehicles have always made a lot of sense to me.  The infrastructure for power transportation is there.  The engines run very efficiently and cleanly.  There are many ways (both clean and conventional) for generating the power.  But the battery is the piece that has lagged behind.  It is clear that nothing for many years (other than laptops and cell phones) have been pushing battery technology in much of a way.
